Proper facial cleansing is the essential first skincare step to achieving a clear and radiant complexion. It not only removes impurities, makeup, and excess oil but also prepares your skin to absorb the benefits of other skincare products. To help you achieve a flawless complexion, here are some tips and tricks for cleansing your facial skin effectively...
1. Choose The Right Cleanser For Your Skin Type & Goals
Selecting the right cleanser is the foundation of a successful skincare routine. There are various types of cleansers available, including gel, foam, cream, and oil-based options.
Your choice should depend on your skin type. If you are prone to oily skin, opt for a gel or foam cleanser like KOSHO Creamy Cleansing Mousse. For dry skin, go for cream or oil-based cleansers like Biotulin® be:clean 4-in-1 Micellar Cleanser with hemp seed oil.
If you have sensitive skin or a facial skin condition (e.g. eczema, rosacea, acne etc.), look for an extra gentle, fragrance-free option, such as the pH neutral, Dermatologist-developed skinicer® Repair Cleanser.

2. Don't Over-Cleanse!
Generally it is a good idea to cleanse your face twice a day before applying your skincare (usually morning and night).
For most people it is essential to cleanse in the evenings, to get rid of the makeup and pollution which accumulates on the skin during the day.
While not essential, it is a good idea to cleanse in the mornings too, as it removes any leftover product (which may not mix with your evening skincare) and build-up from the night.
However, be wary of over-cleansing, as this can strip your skin of natural oils necessary for a healthy, balanced skin microbiome.
3. Gently Massage – Don't Scrub
Gently massaging your cleanser onto your face in a circular motion is all you need to remove dirt and impurities. Avoid scrubbing vigorously, as this can cause microtears, leading to skin irritation and redness.
Don't forget to extend your cleansing routine to your neck and jawline. These areas are often overlooked but can show signs of aging just as much as your face does.
4. Use Lukewarm Water & Rinse Thoroughly
Hot water can be harsh on your skin, stripping it of essential oils and causing dryness. Using lukewarm water to wash your face, still helps to open up your pores, making it easier to remove impurities, but without drying out your skin.
Make sure to rinse your face thoroughly after cleansing. Any leftover cleanser can clog pores and lead to breakouts. Splash your face with water several times to ensure all residue is gone.
5. Pat Dry – Don't Rub
After cleansing, use a clean, soft towel to gently pat your face dry. Avoid rubbing your skin, as this can cause irritation. Always use a clean towel to prevent transferring bacteria to your freshly cleansed face.
6. Use A Toner
Toning is the next step after cleansing. This helps to balance your skin's pH levels and prepare it for the application of serums and moisturisers. With skinicer® Repair Cleanser and Biotulin® be:clean 4-in-1 Micellar Cleanser this isn't necessary, as skinicer Repair leaves the skin's natural pH level as is, and Biotulin® be:clean already cleanses and tones at the same time.
If you are using KOSHO Creamy Cleansing Mousse, it is a good idea to follow up with KOSHO Smart Matcha Face Spray to tone, and this slight dampness of the skin will also ensure you get the best results from your hyaluronic acid containing products.
