The key to enjoying the perfect matcha tea lies in its preparation and while it isn't complicated, there are a couple of steps which should be followed, to ensure that you are making and consuming matcha correctly and reaping the full benefits of this ancient wellbeing elixir. Step 1: Prepare
Pop on the kettle (set to 80 Degrees Celsius if possible, or boil & let the water cool for a few minutes).
In the meantime, prepare your matcha tools:
- matcha bowl (can be any bowl but should be wide & deep enough to whisk vigorously in)
- matcha whisk also known as chasen - typically (hand-)made from bamboo
- a small sieve & teaspoon.
Step 2: Sieve & Whisk
Sieve half a teaspoon of highest quality matcha powder (e.g. KOSHO Byuti Organic Matcha Tea) into the bowl & fill up with approx. 80ml of the hot (not boiling!) water.
Using the chasen, whisk for approx. 30 seconds until a light green frothy foam has formed.
Step 3: Enjoy!
