The Routine In A Nutshell
STEP 1 (AM&PM):
Cleanse Face
(Optional)
Apply A Serum And/Or Eye Cream
STEP 2 (AM&PM): Moisturise
STEP 3 (AM Only): Apply SPF!
The Bare Essentials
A gentle, effective facial cleanser like skinicer Repair pH Neutral Cleanser instead of soap
A soothing, hydrating & fast-absorbing gel-formula Spirularin Skin Gel as a face moisturiser
Step 1: Cleanse The Face
The biggest no-go in terms of facial care is using hand soap! Soap is too harsh for facial skin and strips the skin of its protective oils. This is often the cause of dry, flaky skin, or an overproduction of oil, as the skin tries to balance itself. Soap also changes the natural pH level of the skin, making it easier for (bad) bacteria to spread.
Instead use a facial cleanser suited to your skin type. Generally it is fine to cleanse twice daily, morning and night. If you only want to bother once a day, do it in the evenings to remove the day's gunk and just rinse skin with water cold or lukewarm (not hot!) water in the mornings.
Proper cleansing will remove any build up of dead skin cells which can lead to pimples or black heads. The right cleanser will make your skin feel refreshed, yet balanced and provide the perfect canvas for the rest of your skincare routine.
For Any Skin Type But Ideal For Sensitive, Dry Or Facial Skin Conditions (Eczema, Acne etc.)
Apply half a pump of skinicer Repair pH Neutral Cleanser to moist skin and gently massage around the face until slightly foamy. Wash off with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean towel.
Best For Oily Or Combination Skin, Not Ideal For Dry Skin
Apply half a pump of KOSHO Creamy Cleansing Mousse to moist skin. Gently massage around the face until foam has disappeared. Wash off with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean towel.
Optional: Apply A Serum
A skin serum is different from a moisturiser, as it is formulated to go into the deeper layers of the skin, rather than sit on top of the skin. This means a serum usually has a runnier, oilier, or gel-like texture which absorbs quickly. There are a vast variety of serums for all types of skin concerns.
If lines and wrinkles are starting to bother you, you may like to apply a rejuvenating skin serum after cleansing, such as Biotulin Supreme Skin Gel or KOSHO Full Hydration Serum as the next step in your skincare routine.
For Lines & Wrinkles From Strong Facial Mimics
(e.g. Frown Lines, Crow's Feet )
Biotulin Supreme Skin Gel is the natural, needle-free alternative to injectables and applied directly to cleansed, dry skin. Apply to areas you wish to target (e.g. forehead) or all over your face. Gently massage into the skin/wrinkles until absorbed, always follow up with a moisturiser/eye cream.
For General Wrinkles & Calming & Brightening Skin
If sagginess, redness and age spots are rather your concern, use KOSHO Full Hydration Serum instead, with its unique matcha extract for ultimate cell-protection and -rejuvenation. Apply a thin layer of the serum evenly to the face and neck, and gently massage into the skin until absorbed. Follow up with a moisturiser/eye cream.
Word of warning: while a serum is optional, if you do use a serum, a moisturiser is not. This is because serums usually contain ingredients which require specific ingredients from the moisturiser that should follow to work properly. If the moisturiser is skipped it can leave the skin feeling and looking worse than without the serum...
Optional: Apply Eye Cream
If you have skin concerns around the eye area in particular, such as wrinkles, are prone to puffy, reddened eyes or get dark shadows – your next step would be an eye cream. Again this should be applied morning and evening for best results. The reason you shouldn't apply your regular moisturiser right up to the eyes is because eye creams are formulated in a way that the ingredients will absorb quicker and not creep into your eyes (which could potentially cause irritation).
Eye creams are generally applied using the ring finger/finger tips to gently tap in the cream around the eyes until absorbed. No wild rubbing please!
Smoothens & Soothes A Puffy Reddened Eye Area
Biotulin eyeMATRIX combines the natural skin-smoothing ingredients of Biotulin with the anti-inflammatory properties of hemp seed oil. This helps to calm rednesss and soothe puffiness around the eye area.
Smoothens, Lifts & Brightens
Plant extracts from red algae, paracress, and of course the unique, organic matcha extract in KOSHO Eye Lifting Serum immediately lift the eye area for a fresher look. Precious tsubaki oil from the Japanese camellia is rich in omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids and nourishes the delicate eye area.
Step 2 (Morning & Night): Apply Moisturiser
Most men skip the moisturiser as they don't like the feel of something thick or goopy on their face which is understandable. However, it really is worth pursuing finding a moisturiser which you do like the feel of (perhaps even enjoy!) as this will give your skin the biggest benefits if you aren't yet using one.
Again, key is not only finding a texture/feel you like, but also using a moisturiser which again suits your skin type. A thin layer of moisturiser is applied all over the face and neck. If you still find regular moisturisers too thick – try skinicer Repair After-Shave which is a cooling, soothing gel to be used all over the face.
Moisturisers For Sensitive Skin / Skin Conditions
e.g. eczema, acne, rosacea, "maskne" etc.
For Sensitive Skin Prone To
Acne / Oiliness
Overproduction of oil tends to be more common in young adult/teenage skin but, even skin conditions including inflamed skin areas combined with oiliness can benefit from using the skinicer Repair Serum.

Step 3 (In The Mornings):
Apply UV-Protection
The most essential of these skincare steps is UV-protection. There really is no use to skip this as it is not only the biggest ageing factor for skin, but more importantly reduces the risk of skin cancer. Especially if you are bald or work outdoors: lather up! Most people don't like wearing sunblock as it feels thick and sticky. This is because they are usually applying sunblock which was formulated for the body, to the face...
Again, it's about finding a texture which you like the feel of. We offer a couple of day moisturisers with SPF/UV-protection – so you can apply these moisturisers once and automatically be protected (two birds – one stone!)
As you obviously shouldn't go to sleep with sunblock from the day on your skin, if you want a moisturiser which you can apply in the mornings and the evenings, choose from the above moisturisers and apply a separate (facial) sunblock over top.
Day Moisturisers With UV-Protection
Thicker Day Cream with UVA&UVB SPF30 Protection
The skin-smoothing Biotulin UV30 Daily Skin Protection Cream includes SPF30 UVA and UVB protection. Vegan & made in Germany.
Light Day Cream with Natural UV-Protection (Approx. SPF15)
For a lighter, deeply active alternative, try: KOSHO Smart Protection Cream with natural UV-protection (i.e. without traditional UV-blocking chemicals/filters) equivalent to about SPF15. Vegan & made in Switzerland.
That's Your (Twice) Daily Skincare Ritual Done!
Weekly: Exfoliate & Mask
What your daily face cleansing does on a superficial level, weekly exfoliation helps you go deeper – unclogging blocked pores and removing more layers of dead skin build up to make your daily skincare products absorb more effectively.
However, it should be noted, that most men exfoliate daily if they shave (at least part of their face). A gentle, mechanical exfoliation like KOSHO Multi-Effect Peeling with micro-particles of rice and bamboo is ideal for areas around the nose and forehead where you aren't shaving regularly. But still don't over do it and keep exfoliation to once a week.
Masks give your skin an extra hydration boost and are ideally applied after exfoliation and will leave you feeling cool as a cucumber... 😉
KOSHO Multi-Effect Peeling combines the unique, antioxidant-rich matcha extract with bamboo and rice particles for a gentle, yet invigorating exfoliation to improve skin tone and radiance, leaving it velvety smooth. Vegan, made in Switzerland.
skinicer Repair Mask is based on the unique Spiralin microalgae extract with cell-regenerative and antimicrobial properties. This mask is left on for 20-30 minutes and then any excess wiped off with a tissue to keep skin saturated and soft. Made in Germany & developed by leading Dermatologists.
